This year, DaBaby was to be THE star of the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Nominated twelve times, he was almost certain to receive at least one award. But things did not go as planned. The rapper left empty-handed.
The annual celebration of BET Hip-Hop Awards took place on Tuesday, October 27. The event was highly anticipated and won over viewers with all the crazy performances that followed one another. And like every competition, there is bound to be a reward at the end. Nominated in different categories, big heads of the hip-hop game competed against each other. But if there is one person who owed more than serene, it is good DaBaby. His name was on twelve lists. So inevitably, it had to end up paying off. Except that to everyone’s surprise, he didn’t win any awards!
DaBaby was nominated in the following categories:
The best hip-hop video for “Bop” and “Rockstar”
The sound of the year for “Bop” and “Rockstar”
Album of the year with “Blame It on Baby” and “Kirk“
Best collaboration for his work with Roddy and Jack Harlow’s on “Whats Poppin”
The best live performance
Lyricist of the Year
Hip-hop artist of the year.
Impact Track with the remix “Black Lives Matter” of the title “Rockstar”
Best verse in a collaboration
The one who will collaborate with Kanye West seems to be taking it pretty well. He even commented on his loss in the wake on social networks, congratulating the winners!
It’s okay, he’ll do a comeback next year!
