Not many people know it, but LIDL has been offering travel deals on its website and has been doing so for four years now. Soon, the discount chain is about to go further. After the buzz of its food processor and its sneakers, LIDL will sell… plane tickets, indicates BFMTV.
Mélanie Lemarchand, head of LIDL Voyages France, explains that the offer will complement the brand’s holiday packages: “The way of traveling has changed and the French are looking above all for short stays à la carte”.
Initially, the offer will focus only on Europe. For the future, LIDL is thinking even bigger and hopes to allow flights “all over the world with 600 airlines available”.
