В Game Informer wrotethat The Callisto Protocol tries too hard to imitate Dead Space, but fails even at the basics. According to the journalist, the game is not very scary, but in some places it can still interest and captivate.

IGN reviewer too wrotethat The Callisto Protocol is more of a Dead Space imitator than some “brand new monster”.

The lowest rating put in GameSpot, the reviewer criticized the gameplay mechanics, including the combat system, noting that the game is constantly torn between action and more classic horror, not paying enough attention to each of these elements.
