At 2,240 meters above sea level within the Regional Natural Park of the Catalan Pyrenees, is the Camporells. This classified natural site is a real refuge for tourists, who take advantage of the frozen natural ponds and snow-capped peaks.

It takes about an hour of hiking to discover the Camporells site, nicknamed “little Canada”. Located in Formiguères (Pyrénées-Orientales), the exceptionally decorated site welcomes its share of tourists every year. “We’re already much quieter than on the slopes, that’s really important, it’s one of the big priorities. Afterwards, you have to enjoy spending a few hours climbing”, testifies Laurent Molari, one of the hikers. For Laurent and his friends, the climb may be painful but the reward is worth it.

For this hike, walkers are supervised by Michel Castillon, who ensures that the activity runs smoothly for everyone. “The security plan is the thing we think of first. But also the choice of outings, which will be calculated according to the level of the people”, he explains. On the peak of the day, the risks of avalanche are very limited and the slope does not exceed 30°. However, the summit is pleasant to climb, and the descent remains up to the expectations of tourists.
