Each year, the caterer Stavros de Ciney delivers meals for the VW Fun Cup races and the 2CV-C1s on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit: “We had to set up there from Tuesday to provide meals from Thursday to Saturday to the organizers of these races and to various teams. And until Sunday noon, we were convinced to go, ”begins Julie Meulenbergh, the chef’s companion.
“A protocol indicates that races can take place behind closed doors and therefore without an audience. But this weekend, surrounding hospitals told organizers that they could not send an ambulance in the event of accidents, because their establishments are saturated with Covid-19. From there, the organizers of these two races therefore canceled these competitions. They didn’t want to take any chances. We heard the news on Sunday, but we had already bought all the merchandise on Saturday. And we had already started cooking on Saturday and Sunday mornings. “
