The Director General of the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR), Bachir Baddou, was elected to the Executive Committee of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA), as Treasurer.
A press release from FMSAR, specifies that the GFIA is a non-profit association that represents national and regional insurance associations that serve the general interest of life, health and general insurance and reinsurance companies to national governments, international regulators and other bodies acting on their behalf.
It was created in 2012, during a meeting of insurance associations in Washington, with the objective of increasing the efficiency of the industry by offering suggestions to international regulators and to actively contribute to international discussions on topics of common interest.
The GFIA, it is recalled, brings together 90% of global insurance premiums. The new Executive Committee is made up of the following six Federations: USA, Canada, Japan, Insurance Europe, New Zealand and Morocco.
