The Covid Safe Ticket should allow the organization, in complete safety, of pilot projects with the public, then of mass events. The Federal Minister of Public Health, Frank Vandenbroucke, estimated during the discussions that the French example was “bad”: there is no question with us of having to present a “pass” to access cafes or restaurants.
The ticket uses the principle of the EU’s digital Covid certificate: it can attest to the complete vaccination of its carrier, a recent negative test or past contamination dating less than 6 months ago. The goal is to anonymize the data as much as possible: controllers should only see a red or green screen, without any further details on the person’s situation.
In a consultation committee, the federal, regional and community governments have agreed on certain terms and conditions of the ticket which can be used for events of more than 1,500 people outdoors from August 13 and indoors from September 1. .
