And so this week’s winning song – or make it the winner mash up, a Songland First – assumed a new purpose in these difficult times as a hopeful explanation of survival.

Aside from the simple lyrics, Rexha Gracemans loved moodyverse and pre-chorus building, but said the chorus didn’t hit me in the face. Rexha suggested adding an “electric dirty guitar” to dirty it a bit like “No Doubt and the Killers”, so Graceman clearly had something to do to grow up as a songwriter. “Data-reactid =” 37 “> But fame escaped her in adulthood, so Graceman was back on TV to get the gold, so to speak Songland Judge Ryan Tedder remarked, “With these hymnic songs for things so high at the Olympics, you can get very clichéd very quickly,” and Graceman’s entry “Gold” – which was about “striving for gold” – it was “on the nose,” said Shane McAnally, the judge at Tedder. (Judge Ester Dean worked with another candidate, Josh Vida, but his pleading love ballad "Crazy Enough" never seemed Olympic enough, even with Dean’s help, to go beyond bronze in this episode.) Tedder completely switched the production of “Miracle” to give it the “raw, cool” vibe that Rexha wanted and simplified the melodies so that Scott’s gold medal choir could really shine. In the meantime, McAnally made “Gold” bigger and bolder by adding a choir and some thundering Imagine Dragons style drums, and he changed the title and hook from “Gold” to the less obvious “Bones”, which is what matters definitely refreshed. “data-reactid =” 41 “> And so it went on to the workshop round, in which Scott was paired with Tedder and Graceman with McAnally. Both songs were improved, but when Scott and Graceman performed them for Rexha (with Scott now accompanied by a singer), Rexha had an epiphany with your chocolate in my peanut butter and realized that “Miracle” and “Bones” were two great tastes, that tasted better together. “What I have in my head is going to be insane. Something nobody will think of, ”she announced with a grin.

“Nobody really saw it coming; That had never happened on the show, ”Rexha told the shocked participants when she told them that she had decided to make the verse“ Bones ”with the chorus“ Miracle ”Frankenstein and put McAnally’s lyrics on Tedder’s melody. It was a brilliant move since the new hybrid melody (still titled “Miracle”) was really the sum of its parts, stronger than what each of the participating songwriters had come up with. This actually felt like a real Olympic hymn.

“Having Bebe on the show definitely kept us busy,” said McAnally. “This is the kind of next level song writing that only someone like Bebe can really do.”

Of course, this episode was bittersweet, since all the lyrics were about to finally achieve their goals after a life of preparation and commitment – and now the Olympic Games in Tokyo have to wait another year to make their dreams come true. But Rexha’s stirring “miracle” can now be streamed, and congratulations are due to both Scott and Graceman, who have made their dreams come true and whose unexpected collaboration will be heard at the Summer Games next year.
