Coach of Comoros since January 2014 and in the process of leading the Coelacanths to the first CAN in their history, Amir Abdou will combine two functions! On Saturday, the Mauritanian club FC Nouadhibou announced the appointment of the Franco-Comorian as coach for a period of two years.
After having coached SU Agen and Entente Golfech-Saint-Paul d’Espis among amateurs in France, this will be the first real professional experience in a club for the native of Marseille who joins an ambitious formation founded by Ahmed Yahya, President of the Mauritanian Football Federation (FFRIM) and candidate for the presidency of CAF.
Assisted by Franco-Tunisian Wissem Maaref as deputy, Abdou will get straight to the heart of the matter with the preliminary round of the African Champions League scheduled for next weekend against Ghanaians Asante Kotoko. As a reminder, Nouadhibou has just recruited two Comorian internationals, Faouz Faidine (midfielder, 26 years old, 10 caps) and Ibroihim Youssouf (striker, 26 years old, 7 caps), two players who shouldn’t have too much trouble getting around comply with the demands of their “new” coach!
