Originally from Willebroek (province of Antwerp), the man had his identity card with him when the experts analyzed the bodies. The vehicle with which he went there, and which he parked at the top of the viaduct, was registered in his father’s name, specifies the prosecution. The other body is that of his 6 year old daughter.
The Hal-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office visited the homes of the 35-year-old man, his father, his ex-partner (the mother of the 6-year-old girl) and the address of another of his former partners with whom he had a 13-year-old daughter for, to ensure that there was no other victim.
Investigators are actively looking for witnesses and will analyze CCTV cameras to determine what really happened. A toxicological analysis will also be carried out to determine if the girl was still alive before the jump. According to the first elements of the investigation, the man acted alone.
Complain to the police
A farewell letter was found at his home. On Monday, the mother of the girl who died came to the police because she feared her ex-boyfriend would attack her daughter. The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office had carried out his arrest and his hearing, but released him. Nothing seemed to suggest a passage to the act.
