Madhya Pradesh: Indore police registered a case against a young man for avoiding the marriage relationship by sending a text message to his wife three times asking him to divorce her. The case is against 32-year-old Imran, a native of Indore. Imran and the complainant met through a matrimonial site and got married.
But after knowing that Imran has three other wives besides her, the woman asked about this and after the two quarreled over this matter, the complaint is that Imran ended the relationship by sending a message on the phone saying divorce three times. Police have also registered a case against him following the allegation that a native of Ajmer was also involved in the incident.

The charge against Imran is punishable by up to three years in jail. According to the law passed by the central government in 2019, even if talaq is pronounced through words, telephone call, writing or through electronic media such as WhatsApp and SMS, it is not legal.
