The Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat has stopped the aid to cultural professionals to “rethink” the granting mechanism until a new one is found, he reported in a statement.
The Catalan Executive has reported that will modify all calls so that “it is not due to non-competitive competition and awarding by order of presentation.”
The announced grants will be maintained
He has ensured that the announced aid will continue but has clarified that they are working to “add more resources and reach more professionals” in the world of culture.
It is a package of aid of 8.4 million euros that the Government approved a couple of weeks ago for culture professionals, to compensate for the losses due to the cancellation of events and shows due to covid-19, as well as support operating expenses.
Direct provision of 750 euros
The forecast was that those affected could request this direct benefit of 750 euros as of tomorrow, but in the end it will not be like that, since the council led by Chakir el Homrani has stopped these aid “to rethink them until they find a new concession mechanism.”
In the coming days he will address what this new way is so that money can reach “the people who need it as soon as possible the better.”
The Generalitat has chosen to modify this and other calls for aid to avoid them being by non-competitive competition and with awarding in order of presentation.
Sources from the Ministry have indicated that the decision to “rethink” the aid was taken last week, as a result of the problems that the self-employed had in accessing these emergency benefits.
In this sense, they point out that there has been a “coordination error” when publishing the information on the web as if the call was opened tomorrow, since initially it had to be that way.
