Many people wonder about the dangers of the sun’s rays on our eyes. Optometrist Langis Michaud, professor at the School of Optometry at the University of Montreal, explains that you should always be wary of ultraviolet (UV) rays, even when the sky is cloudy, and that it is important to protect your eyes well, especially those of children.

« All the rays that enter [dans nos yeux] from above, from below, from the sides, can affect our cornea. »

Dr. Langis Michaud explains when and at what altitude our eyes are most exposed to sunlight. He also gives advice on how to protect them, in particular by wearing good sunglasses. He adds that we must also pay attention to our eyelids. For example, it’s not a good idea to fall asleep in the sun with your eyes closed.
