CEAS-Sahara, according to Serra, tried to provide these people with aid, mainly food, through friendly associations and organizations in different regions of Europe, but in vain due to the spread of Covid-19. In addition, various authorities have also tried to provide vaccines to the detainees of Tindouf, attempts which were unsuccessful. This food shortage was, according to Serra, “fortunately covered by the contributions of the Algerian government which relieved us and allowed us to breathe”.
In addition, Xavier Serra revealed that CEAS-Sahara called on the Spanish authorities to “provide aid concerning the vaccine, an initiative which did not succeed and which did not allow us to ensure sufficient aid, except a modest sum of nearly 80,000 Euros and the support of part of the humanitarian aid for the realization of projects intended to alleviate the suffering of the Saharawi people, by aid in medicines and in sanitary equipment to the hospitals in the said camps ”.
In fact, the Polisario, used to taking advantage of the suffering of the populations sequestered in the Tindouf camps to beg for humanitarian aid, does not hesitate to divert humanitarian aid from the European Union, in collusion with the Algerian authorities.
That said, this lack of supposedly humanitarian aid, which should have a bad effect on the detainees of Tindouf, will apparently only be harmful to the pernicious interests of the Polisario and its support foot, Algeria. The latter, investing in a foreign affair, owes explanations to its citizens, who see themselves, by the nature of things, as a priority for said aid.
