The Minister of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation, Martin Parfait Aimé Coussoud-Mavoungou, handed over medical equipment to the National Public Health Laboratory (LNSP) on behalf of the departmental pole of Pointe-Noire. The laboratory equipment, received by the Director General of the LNSP, Prof. Rock Niama, representing the Minister in charge of Health, is installed at the Loandjili hospital. It is composed, among other things, of a laminar flow hood type P3, already installed which will allow the steps of DNA or RNA extraction for use in PCR to be carried out, with a view to detection of viruses such as HIV, hepatitis A, B, C, E and of course Sars-Cov-2 responsible for Covid-19. A cryotube count scanner with barcodes, 500 sets of personal protective equipment that will protect handling during sampling and experimentation, extend the list of equipment. The laboratory has also received from the Ministry of Scientific Research, DNA extraction kits, important oligonucleotides for the rapid detection of Covid-19 patients. “We can still have equipment and it is our obligation to make equipment available to you”, said Minister Coussoud-Mavoungou. For his part, the director general of the LNSP said he was satisfied with this donation which contributes to the fight against covid-19. “This equipment reinforces our capacities, in order to meet the health needs of the population”, said Professor Niama. It should be remembered that the material received is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Scientific Research and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
