The mayor of Colomiers (Haute-Garonne) sent a long letter to President Emmanuel Macron. In particular, she questioned the Head of State on the cuts in allocations. The elected official estimates the impact of Covid-19 on the finances of her municipality at 1.4 million euros.

In a long letter, the socialist mayor of Colomiers, Karine Traval-Michelet has just challenged the President of the Republic on the continuous decline in state grants, for several years, which regularly strikes the budget of his municipality by almost 40 000 inhabitants.

She takes the opportunity to ask Emmanuel Macron to take charge of the financial impact of the local management of the Covid-19 crisis: an impact estimated at 1.4 million euros.

“We have suffered loss of revenue estimated at 600,000 euros, in the nautical area, the ALAE (leisure activities associated with the school), nurseries, the cinema The Central, while we have paid our full-time agents ”indicates Karine Traval-Michelet, who also mentions other sources of expenditure: food and hygiene checks, for 200,000 euros to compensate for the free or semi-free of school canteens during confinement and school closures; an exceptional bonus of 160,000 euros paid “to agents who enabled the continuity of essential services in July”.

Among other expenses, the mayor of Colomiers also underlines 100,000 euros intended for the equipment of the reception center for the sick, “one of the first opened in France”, 200,000 euros “for the purchase of masks and protective equipment ”for agents or the population and € 20,000 for“ honoring the contracts of young artists ”despite the cancellation of shows.

In addition, the mayor has also exempted Colomiers rugby from its annual fee, € 25,000 and cafes-restaurants from terrace occupancy rights for € 20,000. The town hall has also abandoned the 25% reduction in the local tax for outdoor advertising, for an estimated amount of € 80,000.

In her conclusion, Karine Traval-Michelet asks Emmanuel Macron to take charge of this € 1.4 million by the State, “in order to be able to participate without delay in meeting a collective challenge: the revival of our country”.
