The Mufti resolves the “polygamy” controversy: the origin is non-polygamy, and if it exists, justice is required

Dr. Shawky Allam, Grand Mufti of the Republic, resolved the issue of ” polygamyWhere he said: Regardless of whether polygamy is an origin or a branch, polygamy must in any case be under the weight of a strong and well-founded justification, and that there be justice with the rest of the wives.

He added, in press statements, that the origin is not polygamy, but polygamy came to treat a social problem; Therefore, polygamy should be under the weight of a strong and reasonable justification.

And on the claim of some that the jurists did not do justice to the woman by violating the commands of the Qur’an and the Sunnah in their fairness, he said: The jurists and the reputable scholars have done justice to the woman in compliance and submission to the commands of the Shari’a.

The Mufti explained that the follower of the prophetic model sees it as an open model in deciding women’s rights; Women in his era, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, used to carry out many social costs, in addition to their advice, and they did not detract from their status. A practical and actual application from him, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, for his affirmation of the right of women to exercise their legitimate rights.

The Mufti pointed out that the Egyptian wife in most cases is supportive of her husband and her family in all matters of life, and preserves the family entity, which is something that distinguishes Egyptian and Arab women.
