Santiago de Chile, Dec 19 (EFE) .- The outgoing president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, affirmed this Sunday that the new president should be “the president of all” during the polarized ballot in which former left-wing student leader Gabriel Boric compete and the ultra-conservative José Antonio Kast.

“Tonight we are going to have a new president elected by all of you and I believe that whoever is elected should never forget that he must be the president of all Chileans, not just those who supported him,” said Piñera after casting his vote.

More than 15 million people are called to vote in this election, the most polarized and decisive since the return to democracy in 1990 and, according to the latest polls, Boric would win the ballot, although experts say that the outlook is very uncertain.
