The free update to The Sims 4 released on July 26 by Electronic Arts, unwittingly added the feature of having romantic relationships with one’s own family.

This week appeared an update eagerly awaited by fans of the iconic life simulation game, The Sims 4. This update will have added its share of surprises to the game.
In the novelties of patch 1.90 we can find curved walls, body hair, new desires, fears and sexual orientations. Unfortunately, the latter was not to the liking of the players.
Indeed, this little novelty has been talked about a lot and was reported very quickly on Twitter and Reddit. Right after the update, players reportedly reported that some Sims had a tendency to go to other Sims in their family. Several cases were detected quickly. A player reportedly shared a screenshot showing an older woman wanting to start a romance with her son. Another allegedly tipped off EA, telling them that one of his Sims wanted to ask his sister to want to be his girlfriend, or even that a girl wanted to date her dad. Situations that are chilling and not normal in an adventure such as Sims.

Where does the error come from?
For some players and people creating game mods, the problem would come from a “Wants and Fears” system of The Sims 2 adding the fears that the Sims can have and in particular during their adolescence with the new extension pack “The Sims high school years” . This system would notably allow Sims to fulfill more desires related to their personality, for example. However, a bug in the system in question creates desires involving romantic relationships with anyone, including members of his own family.
A developer of the game reportedly confirmed that they are aware of the issue and will be looking for a fix as soon as possible:
I just wanted to let you know that “Wanting to date” a family member is something that we know, we replicated, we are working on it. We are looking to get it fixed as soon as possible, thanks for all the bug reports, we appreciate that. Of course, we are also working on the aging bug.

The aging bug is actually not a desired novelty. Indeed, some players would have noticed that their Sims were aging so quickly going from baby to old person in a matter of minutes. A problem known by the team and which will be resolved later.
This problem would affect the mode of life where the life expectancy of Sims is long or short. The best choices in the meantime would be to switch to normal mode or disable aging until the bug can be fixed.
