The number of travelers to hotels in Catalonia fell by 80.6% in December

The number of travelers to hotels in Catalonia during the month of December was 80.6% lower than the same period last year. According to provisional data from the Conjuntura Turística Hotelera, published this Monday by the Instituto Nacional d’Estadística (INE), Catalonia received 219,172 tourists in December, of which 74% -up to 162,285 travelers- were Spanish. Catalonia was the second most visited destination in Spain during the last month of the year, but the occupancy rate in hotels was 16.3%, lower than the Spanish average (17.7%). Statewide, the number of tourists in December was close to 1.4 million, 77.6% less than in the previous year.
