A spokesman for the Pentagon’s Central Command, Colonel Dave Eastburn, told AFP Maher El Oqal Killed while riding a motorbike near Jindres in SyriaOne of his top aides was seriously injured.

Maher al-Aqal was one of the four largest leaders of ISIS, according to Colonel Joe Buccino, a spokesman for the US Central Command.

The first pictures of the air strike showed the remains of a completely smashed and charred motorcycle, which an American political analyst said was of the ISIS leader during the strike.

Buccino said: "Getting rid of these ISIS leaders will disrupt the terrorist organization’s ability to further plot and carry out attacks".

This strike is the latest in a series of recent strikes against the terrorist organization in Syria.
