The population has “the big end of the stick” to limit community transmission

Of the 53 cases reported Wednesday in the Capitale-Nationale, Dr. Girard specifies that barely 20% could be directly linked to known outbreaks. All the others are isolated cases which come from different backgrounds and which will lead, perhaps, to the detection of other people who have contracted the disease among their contacts.

The population, it is they who have the big end of the stick, argues Dr. Jacques Girard. He adds that public health may increase awareness efforts and staff dedicated to epidemiological investigations, it will be in vain if health measures are taken lightly.

The next few days will be decisive, he pleads, noting that although the number of new daily cases has been stable for a few days, the numbers had never been higher this spring during the first months of the pandemic.

The public health director is not, however, in a position to rule whether or not the Capitale-Nationale region will fall on moderate alert, symbolized by the color orange according to the COVID-19 monitoring system unveiled by the government. Legault at the start of the week.

So far, we have a lot of new cases. It’s like a tray. Is it really a plateau? Is it going to come back down? Ride up? Where is it going to remain stable for another week? It is all these parameters that we are looking at.

Situation stable at Place Alexandra

Despite a third death announced on Wednesday and 40 residents with COVID-19 in Place Alexandra retirement home, in the Beauport sector, public health considers that the situation is on the verge of being brought under control.

Closure of the Sacrilège bar

Le Sacrilège bar located on Saint-Jean Street is temporarily closing its doors while employees are tested for COVID-19.

There is no talk of an outbreak, but the owners of the establishment have been told that a client who frequented the place on Friday night has since tested positive. They did not want to take a chance, hence the preventive closure.
