Manufacturing being very energy-intensive, the price of toilet paper is directly influenced by the price of energy. This now represents 50% of the cost of production, against 10 to 15% previously, indicate our colleagues from the Nieuwsblad.

“Both increases started last year and the war in Ukraine only accelerated the trend. And then there is the increase in labor costs,” explains Thomas Davreux, managing director of InDUfed, the federation of Belgian companies producing and converting paper and cardboard.
