The reasons behind the successive nucleic acid “false positive” incidents in Shanghai are doubtful | Nucleic acid testing | Zhongke Runda | Jiang Mianheng

[The Epoch Times, May 15, 2022](Reported by Yi Fan and Wang Jiayi, reporters from the Epoch Times Special Department) Recently,Shanghaimultiple occurrencesNucleic acid amplification testingfalse positive“event, and the testing agency behind it is the same company:Zhongke Runda

according toShanghaiThe local media “First Finance and Economics” reported that the Sunac Binjiang No. 1 Community, located in Wuliqiao Street, Huangpu District, Shanghai, conducted two consecutive nucleic acid samples on May 5 and 6.Tested by ShanghaiZhongke RundaThe medical laboratory (hereinafter referred to as “Zhongke Runda”) was completed.

As a result, the community was notified on May 6, and the previous day’sNucleic acid amplification testingA total of 13 residents tested positive. Relevant residents were immediately notified of quarantine transfers.

However, a positive resident raised strong doubts, because he basically did not go out the door, neither shopping nor receiving express delivery, how could he say that Yang is Yang? The person called the Shanghai Huangpu District Center for Disease Control and Prevention to request a review, and the center immediately sent a doctor to conduct a single-person, single-tube nucleic acid test on the resident. At 6 o’clock in the evening, the report came out – negative. After another round of testing, all 13 were negative.

After more than 30 tense hours, some residents angrily sent a letter to “First Finance and Economics”, expressing doubts about the accuracy of the nucleic acid test data, and “strongly requesting the replacement” of Zhongke Runda’s testing work on Wuliqiao Street.

According to an insider on Weibo, Sunac’s Binjiang No. 1 courtyard is next to a bustling road, with house prices at 150,000 yuan ($22,000) per square meter, making it expensive to live here. These big guys are detectedfalse positiveAfter that, someone could be contacted for a review every minute, which led to the final exposure of the matter. If it was people in other communities, they would have been warned long ago.

In addition to the above-mentioned cases, on May 9, residents of Bansongyuan Street, Huangpu District, Shanghai broke the news online that many residents in the community found that they were “false positives”. On May 7, 5 false positives were also detected in Haiyue Garden Community, Huangpu District, Shanghai.

According to a report by China Caixin on May 10, Jiajia (pseudonym), a resident of Xiaodongmen Street, Huangpu District, Shanghai, was also a victim of false positives. According to her observation, at least 7 people in the makeshift hospital where she was quarantined were in such a situation. They are all from different districts.

There is also a resident of Shanghai’s Hongkou District who thought he was a false positive, but became a “true positive” after being sent to a makeshift hospital for isolation. He may never have a chance to prove whether he was wronged in the first place.

It is worth noting that all the above “false positive” tests all point to the same testing institution – Zhongke Runda.

Zhongke Runda, a local company in Shanghai, was the first to pass the verification of the Shanghai Clinical Inspection Center in March 2020 and obtained the qualification for nucleic acid testing. This laboratory is affiliated to Shanghai Zhongke Runda Precision Medical Laboratory Co., Ltd. The major shareholder behind it is the listed company Runda Medical (holding 48%).

One of the shareholders is the Shanghai Institute for Advanced Study of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is a research institution of the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the son of Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Communist Party of China.Jiang Mianhengsphere of influence, he served as president of the Shanghai branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

After the false positive incident was exposed, Runda Medical announced on May 11 that Zhongke Runda conducted testing in accordance with the laboratory’s standardized procedures. The laboratory has been asked to initiate an internal self-examination on the nucleic acid detection work and cooperate with relevant departments in the investigation.

Regarding the reasons for the false positives of nucleic acid tests, Zheng Jie, a medical doctor from the University of Tokyo, told The Epoch Times that there are several possibilities: some are the irregular operation of “collecting, sending, and checking”, resulting in sample contamination or registration errors; Differences, such as the reagent scheme used by the testing institutions; and the pursuit of speed during the large screening period, the relevant personnel are overloaded, and it is possible to operate illegally or deliberately.

Zheng Jie also pointed out that Shanghai has a large population and a large volume of nucleic acid testing business, so there is a huge chain of interests. Driven by interests, it is not ruled out that there is a shady secret behind the “false positives”.

Earlier this year, a “false negative” case was exposed in Zhengzhou, Henan, China. The person in charge of the testing company involved was suspected by the police of “maliciously spreading the virus.” The company made a fortune through nucleic acid testing.
