The Red Crescent participates in a workshop in Cairo on mental health

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society participated in a regional workshop organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on “Capacity Building on Leadership in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support”, over a period of five days, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The Society was represented in this workshop by Dr. Wafaa Ajour and Miss Rahaf Maan, along with many volunteers and members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent bodies and societies from different countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

The workshop aimed to improve and develop the capacities of National Societies volunteers in the region in strengthening the activities of mental health and psychosocial support programs in order to achieve a feasible response in emergency situations and various relief and humanitarian work situations.

The Secretary-General of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Mr. Mubarak Al-Hadi, confirmed that participation in this workshop comes within the framework of the Society’s keenness to build and strengthen the capabilities of its cadres in the field of mental health, which has become an integral part of the relief and humanitarian aid provided by volunteers to those affected by disasters, wars and others, expressing keenness The Society maintains constant and effective communication with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies with the aim of developing various aspects of work and benefiting from common experiences and expertise.
