The regularization of half a million immigrants in 2004 resulted in 2.4 billion extra income

BarcelonaRegularizing the situation of immigrants has a positive impact on the economy. This follows, at least, from having studied the effect of the mass regularization of immigrants proposed by José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in 2004, when he fixed the situation of 600,000 people understood as illegal. The decision resulted in an increase in public revenue at the local level of between 4,000 and 5,000 euros per regularized person. That is, about 2.4 billion euros in total.
