The Rock made Adele’s dream come true at the Grammys

(CNN) — Adele is officially winning in life after achieving his old dream of meeting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at this year’s Grammy Awards.

The epic moment was orchestrated by the presenter of the Grammys, Trevor Noahwho kicked off Sunday’s show by walking over to Adele’s table during her opening monologue and revealing some lesser-known facts about the British singer.

“This is one of the strangest things I’ve found out: The person Adele has always wanted to meet, but never has, is Dwayne Johnson,” she told the star-studded audience at the 65th annual ceremony. “I found out that he is also a big fan of yours.”

Noah joked that while he didn’t have anyone named “Dwayne Johnson,” he did have someone named “The Rock,” before finally making a long-awaited performance.

Unbeknownst to the “Hello” singer, Johnson had come up behind her seat. The stunned singer stood up and received a bear hug from the Hollywood action man.

“Adele meets The Rock, The Rock meets Adele. For the first time ever.” Noah said. “Okay, get to know each other, we’ve got to get on with the show!”

In December 2021, Adele revealed that she would “really cry” if she ever met Johnson, whom she described as “incredible”. Despite living in Beverly Hills for several years, the 34-year-old singer had yet to cross paths with the former wrestling star.

“I was the biggest wrestling fan when I was younger,” she said during an appearance on the canal de YouTube NikkieTutorials. “The other day he sent me flowers because he and his wife couldn’t make it to my concert. I literally almost fell out of my chair!”

Adele and Johnson’s newfound friendship was cemented Sunday night when he took the stage at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena to present her with the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Easy On Me.”

“Come up here best friend Adele,” said the “Black Adam” star.

The 16-time Grammy winner was emotional as she dedicated the win to her son Angelo, before recalling that her partner, Rich Paul, told her before the show: “Don’t cry, if you win something, don’t cry.”

“And here I am, crying,” he added.
