the Russian offensive against Kiev has begun, “this war will last”, warns Mr. Macron

“This war will last and we must prepare for it,” said Emmanuel Macron from the Agricultural Show

The Head of State quickly inaugurated the International Agricultural Show on Saturday morning. “War is returning to Europe and we see ourselves in an unprecedented, serious context. I will not keep the planned agenda and I will let the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture take over for this reunion fair ”began by saying Mr. Macron in front of agricultural officials shortly after 7:30 a.m.

The Head of State, who is not yet an official candidate, wanted to be alongside the farmers to send them three messages: he thanked the agricultural world, “who held up during the Covid-19 pandemic”. Mr. Macron went on to tout food sovereignty, “the ambition we must have for our agriculture”as well as the EGalim law.

Before giving a final, more serious message about the war in ukraine : “What we are going through will not be without consequences for the agricultural worldwarned the President of the Republic at the end of his speech of about thirty minutes. “War has returned to Europe. This war was chosen unilaterally by President Putin (…) Certainly, there will be consequences in our exports for the major sectors”such as wine, cereals and livestock feed.

“This war will last and all the crises behind it will have lasting consequences, we must prepare for it”added Emmanuel Macron, who said that the government was preparing “a resilience plan” to cope with the economic consequences of this crisis.

“We are in the process of building a resilience plan, first to secure our inputs for our sectors, then to build shields in terms of costs (…) and provide answers in the long term”, he explained. It’s necessary “support you in terms of income, and support our compatriots also on the impacts in terms of costs without fail”he insisted, addressing the leaders of the agricultural sectors and unions.
