The sale of condoms in free fall since 2020

The sale of condoms has suffered an unprecedented decline. She has indeed collapsed by almost 40% in the space of two years, as noted by Karex, the world’s largest manufacturer. A catastrophic record for the Malaysian company which produces more than 5.5 billion per year.

And yet, condoms were snapping up like hot cakes at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, like hydroalcoholic gel or toilet paper. First responsible for this disenchantment: confinements that created anxiety and, consequently, a decrease in libido. The possibilities of meetings were also much more limited due to the closure of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Sales are however started to rise again since the start of 2022. But the biggest manufacturer of condoms is trying to diversify. It tries to bounce back through the production of latex gloves for medical use.
