The two men would have committed their misdeeds on the side of the German Eifel before fleeing to Belgium. The vehicle they were traveling with had been seen in the Lower Town in Eupen. It is in this context that the Vesdre-Gueule police zone tried to control it. The occupants of the heavy-duty car then abandoned the vehicle and fled.
A major police operation was then carried out in the capital of the German-speaking Community. The area around the vehicle, i.e. from the Hotel Bosten roundabout to Schilsweg 54-57, had been temporarily closed to traffic and messages were broadcast over the loudspeaker to urge people not to leave their homes.
After several hours of intensive research, the two individuals were arrested on the public highway in Eupen, indicates the police zone, which refuses to comment further.
The whole device was therefore lifted.
