From Friday (April 1st) there will be a comprehensive relaxation. Most corona measures in Berlin are no longer applicable. Find out what’s changing here!

Berlin’s Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) is currently seeing no way to declare Berlin a so-called hotspot in the ongoing corona pandemic. She said so on Thursday. Berlin’s Health Senator Ulrike Gote (Greens) regretted in this connection that that she cannot order the city to wear a mask again.

Because most fall from Friday Corona-Protective measures gone – despite high incidence and a Corona warning light that does not have a green value.

Here are the most important changes

► Mask requirement: The obligation to wear mouth and nose protection is largely eliminated. Masks are then only compulsory on buses and trains, medical practices, hospitals and care facilities. Masks should also be worn in homeless and community accommodation.

► Schools: Here it is omitted Mask requirement Also, the Senate Education Administration and many school managements strongly recommend that you continue to wear masks voluntarily. Tests are carried out three times a week in schools and day-care centers – including vaccinated students.

► Test obligation: Tests will continue to be carried out in schools and daycare centers, and tests in hospitals, prisons, youth welfare homes or asylum seeker homes are also mandatory. Testing is also continuing in care facilities.

► Test sites: The test centers of the state of Berlin will be closed from Friday – the federal test regulation expires at the end of March. There are still private test centers or test options at pharmacies and doctors.

“The entitlement to free PCR testing for people who have received a positive test result from a rapid antigen test or self-test or who have Covid-19-specific symptoms remains,” it said. The free PCR tests can be carried out in many pharmacies or at the family doctor.

“People with COVID-19 specific symptoms can, as before, be given a free PCRGet the test, even without a positive rapid antigen test. If a person has been tested positively by a rapid test in a commercial test center, they can get a free PCR test directly on site,” said the Senate Department for Health.

► Quarantine: If you are infected with Corona, the quarantine measures of the federal government apply. The measures for contact persons also remain in place.

► 2G or 3G: fall away.

“We simply have a legal framework that doesn’t allow us to go beyond what we have now,” Giffey said on Thursday. “If Parliament were to decide in favor of a hotspot, it is highly questionable to what extent such a decision would be criticized,” said the Governing Mayor. “The people of Hamburg are going this way. Now you have to see if that works.” The Berlin Senate will take a close look at it.
