Where most companies and people mainly forgo the lockdowns, there are also winners. For example, 2020 was the year of the Crocs. They may not be the most beautiful footwear, many find them extremely comfortable. And what do people want when we are hardly allowed to see anyone?
“2020 was the year of the Crocs comeback,” CEO Andrew Rees told CNBC. As a result, the company’s revenues rose to its highest level ever in the fourth quarter.
In 2020, Crocs posted a record turnover of 1.15 billion euros, an increase of 12.6 percent compared to 2019. Online sales even increased by more than half.
The remarkable figures are due to the corona pandemic, although Rees does not want to say that it is the only cause for the revival. Crocs has invested heavily in collaborations with celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny and Post Malone, which, according to Reed, was a success for the company. Their limited edition Crocs were also effectively sold out in record time.
Since its founding in 2002, Crocs has now sold 600 million pairs of shoes in more than 90 countries around the world.
