The Federal Justice is currently investigating a complaint that points to alleged irregularities in the framework of the organization of the elections Primary, Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory (STEP) September 12. It was presented by an Army officer who pointed out having detected alleged duplicate payments and other illegal situations in the amount of $ 20 million.
The prosecutor Alejandra Mangano He is behind the judicial investigation and it is expected that in the next few days he will request measures to find out the possible existence of a crime. In turn, within the General Electoral Command a summary was opened to clarify the situation.
The author of the initial complaint was the treasurer of that military body that depends on the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, who alleged the alleged existence of duplicate per diem payments. Alleged irregular payments to suppliers and lack of documentation supporting “the allocation of certain amounts of money” for the custody by the Army and the logistics of the electoral process, according to the NA Agency.
The complaint states that the resources that would have been violated are those available to the Ministry of the Interior for the organization of the elections, whose investment is budgeted at 3,300 million pesos. Of that amount, $ 1,300 million would have been spent for the PASO while the rest corresponds to the generals on November 14.
