The Paraguayan Anti-Corruption Minister, René Fernández, revealed that they are investigating a possible link between the crew of the Venezuelan-Iranian plane held in Argentina and the criminal organization responsible for the murder of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci.

During an appearance before the Senate Investigation Commission, Fernández explained that the Emtrasur plane was in Ciudad del Este, on the triple border between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, between May 13 and 16, for the transfer of a shipment of cigarettes During that time, the crew met with the Uruguayan Federico Ezequiel Santoro Vasallo, who would have been in charge of their transfer and lodging.

Santaro Vasallo is designated as the operator of the criminal organization headed by Sebastián Marset Cabrera, who is the intellectual author of the homicide of the Paraguayan prosecutor.

“We can objectively say that they had contact, that this Iranian-Venezuelan crew was in contact with this person who has a history of international human trafficking and drug trafficking,” René Fernández said in statements taken by the newspaper Clarion.

The complaint from the National Anticorruption Secretariat, filed with the Public Ministry of Paraguay, detailed that the Uruguayan citizen Ezequiel Santoro da Silva was also involved in the transfer of the plane’s crew.

This person is being investigated for allegedly being linked to a human trafficking network, in addition to being the owner of the firm Adshey Turismo Transporte, from Ciudad del Este.

Airplane case in Argentina

Federal judge Federico Villena, from the Buenos Aires town of Lomas de Zamora, had ordered last week Let it free 12 of the 19 crew members of the plane, which is under judicial investigation for possible links with international terrorism.

But the ruling was appealed by the prosecutor in the case, Cecilia Incardona, so the judge’s decision was suspended.

The defense of the crew members that Villena decided not to release also appealed the judicial measure.

Instead, the Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA), the political arm of the Jewish community in Argentina that is a plaintiff in the case, decided not to appeal Villena’s ruling to avoid delays in the investigation.

The aircraft held in Argentina since the beginning of June is a cargo Boeing 747 Dreamliner, which was owned by the Iranian company Mahan Air and currently belongs to Emtrasur, a subsidiary of the Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services (Conviasa), companies that are sanctioned by the United States Department of the Treasury.

The aircraft entered Argentina on June 6 from Mexico, with a stopover in Venezuela, presumably to transfer cargo to an automotive company, and two days later it took off to go to Uruguay to load fuel, but landed again at the local Argentine airport. Ezeiza from Buenos Aires because the neighboring country did not allow his landing.
