Back as Roberto Martinez’s assistant with the Red Devils just before Euro 2020, Thierry Henry could once again leave our national team for a new adventure in Ligue 1. According to RMC Sports, the former Les Bleus striker is on the Girondins list from Bordeaux to replace Vladimir Petkovic, who is increasingly threatened with his coaching job.
The Bordelais occupy 19th place in Ligue 1 and have just chained four consecutive defeats including an elimination in the Coupe de France. But it is above all the heavy defeat against Rennes last weekend which would push the Girondins to sack the Swiss coach. According to RMC Sports, Henry is therefore considered to replace him. This one is very popular with Gérard Lopez, the owner of Bordeaux (but also of Mouscron) and the latter had even thought of him before signing Petkovic this summer.
The French media nevertheless underlines that the former glory of Arsenal is not the only candidate on the list and does not mention possible compensation for the Belgian Union with which he is still under contract.
