This is how Burger King reacts to “Team Wallraff” revelations: Several branches are closed!

And further: “Burger King takes the allegations made very seriously, has temporarily closed and closely checked the restaurants shown in the article. (…) Wherever we have identified issues where we need to improve, we have – together with the franchise partners – developed action plans that we are consistently pursuing.”

When it comes to its employees, Burger King wants “further develop and intensify the training culture”. In addition, a so-called whistleblower hotline is planned for them: “There they can – in a safe and confidential setting – report on problems that we can then address directly. The hotline is managed by an independent external provider.”

In a fact check on Burger King’s website, it goes on to say in relation to the closed branches: “After thorough reviews, intensive training, extensive cleaning work and a new audit, some of the restaurants affected have now reopened. One of the closed restaurants is currently closed for renovation work and other measures.”

After the first “Team Wallraff” research at Burger King in 2014, the fast-food giant apologized and promised improvements. Will they really be implemented this time? “Team Wallraff” stay tuned! (rka)
