For some experts, the pressure experienced by the dollar market during the past few days was linked to several reasons, the first of which is the merchants’ demand for dollars in order to import and form a dollar financial solvency during the current period, and secondly, there are fears that banks will reduce the percentage of their contributions from the dollar during the next stage. As for the most important and prominent matter, it is related to the extent of the ability to preserve these funds and move them within the market, especially since the hedging operations carried out by citizens by buying dollars have increased by a large and enormous rate during the last period.
Here, in one way or another, experts have warned against a huge percentage of dollars leaving the economic cycle because they are being kept away from banks on the one hand, and away from the market on the other. Therefore, the defect emerges here by maintaining a huge cash block in the Lebanese pound amid the continued processes of draining the market of dollars, which will mean a scarcity of supply, and consequently an increase in the price.
