The Specialized Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power (TEPJF) determined that the 100-day report of the third year of the Government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador It must be removed from social networks and from the official website of the Government of Mexico until the end of election day.
It unanimously determined that President López Obrador did violate articles 41 and 134 with his report, since it did constitute inappropriate personalized government propaganda, in addition to the use of public resources during electoral campaigns.
The sentence also extends to the area of social communication and spokespersons, and also dictated non-repetition measures.
The Electoral Tribunal had indicated that on March 30, when the report was presented, political campaigns had already begun in six states (Campeche, Colima, Guerrero, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí and Sonora).
“Article 134, eighth paragraph, of the Constitution, states that propaganda, under any form of social communication, disseminated as such by public powers, autonomous bodies, agencies and entities of the public administration and any other entity of the three levels of government, must have an institutional character and informative, educational or social orientation purposes. In no case will this propaganda include names, images, voices or symbols that imply personalized promotion of any public servant ”, said the Specialized Chamber.
The event ‘First 100 days of the Third Year of Government’ was held on March 30 of this year.
