The De Lijn company has opened an investigation following the broadcast, on social networks, of a video in which we see a bus driver sending text messages while driving. The scene dates from last Tuesday, in a bus on line 214 linking Aalst to Brussels.
According to the person who filmed the sequence, a cyclist tried to stop the driver to alert him to his dangerous behavior, but he denied it. Still according to the witness, the driver also ran a red light.
De Lijn has identified the driver and action will be taken: “This is unacceptable behavior,” a spokeswoman told Nieuwsblad.
