“This is one of the hardest statements I’ve ever had to write – and something I hoped not to have to do for many years,” the former Dortmund coach introduced his statement on social media. Tuchel was “devastated” that his time on the Thames had to end.
“Thomas will rightfully have a place in Chelsea’s history, having won the Champions League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup,” the club said in a brief press release.

Tuchel: “An honor”
Tuchel took over Chelsea in January 2021 and had the best start of any blues coach in the club’s history. He was undefeated in his first 13 matches and led the team to fourth place in the Premier League, feeling at home in the English capital from the start.
“This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and privately,” revealed Tuchel and turned to his companions at Stamford Bridge: “Many thanks to all the staff, the players and the fans who have given me Made you feel welcome from the start!”

Tuchel: “An honor”
“The new owners are approaching 100 days in office and believe it is time for a change,” read the crucial and quite telltale passage in the Blues’ press release.
All the more bitter for Tuchel, who, despite the unworthy end in London, did not say a bad word. “It’s an honor for me to be part of the history of this club. The memories of the past 19 months will always have a special place in my heart,” said Tuchel in his statement on Twitter.
