Xiaomi should again unveil three high-end smartphones for its main series by the end of the year, which will directly succeed the Xiaomi Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. According to the famous Digital Chat Station leaker, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra should again use a very high-end photo configuration with three different sensors.

the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra current uses a 50 MP ISOCELL GN2 main sensor designed by Samsung, as well as two 48 MP IMX586 designed by Sony, an ultra wide-angle and a periscope allowing 5X optical zoom. The configuration of his successor would not be much different.

A three-sensor configuration of 50 MP

According to Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra should use again a 50 MP main sensor, but also a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a third 50 MP periscope sensor. The latter would also allow a 5X optical zoom, while some of its competitors offer a 10X optical zoom like Samsung on its Galaxy S21 Ultra. For now, it is not known whether or not its three sensors will be identical, and if it will be a new generation of cameras from Samsung.

Digital Chat Station also recently unveiled that the classic Xiaomi Mi 12 is expected to use a new 200 MP main sensor designed by Samsung, a first on the market. It is therefore interesting to see that Xiaomi has decided not to give in to the megapixel race on its most expensive models, favoring 50 MP sensors that will offer larger individual pixels for better low-light performance.

As a reminder, the new range of Xiaomi smartphones will be called Xiaomi 12, and not Xiaomi Mi 12, since the Chinese manufacturer has announced the abandonment of the brand “Mi” for its future products. She should be the first to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 898, which will be unveiled in December during the Snapdragon Tech Summit in Hawaii.
