The American thriller, piloted by HBO Max, will be brought to the screen by Don Cheadle and Benicio del Toro.
After leaving The Great Crossing and capturing the 93rd Academy Awards, Steven Soderbergh returns with a new feature film, titled No Sudden Move. Unveiled by HBO Max on June 7, the trailer immediately features a gangster film whose social and political commentary on this era of McCarthyism and segregation is heard.
Social through action
Detroit, Michigan, United States. 1955. A group of criminals is hired to steal a simple document. When the operation goes wrong, they disperse to the four corners of a city torn by racism.
For this new feature film, the director of Sex, lies and video surrounded himself with a top-flight cast including David Harbor, Jon Hamm and Ray Liotta. Soderbergh also finds two of his favorite actors: Don Cheadle and Benicio del Toro, who will play the two gun holders.
HBO Max will upload No Sudden Move July 1, 2021. As the streaming platform is (still?) not available in France, the film could be picked up by Canal +, as with The Great Crossing previously.
