Trapped in the desert or at sea: Qatar says you can call this number for help

Doha: Qatar says it will seek the help of rescue teams to lift vehicles and boats sinking in seawater and desert sand. The Qatar Rescue Team provides a free service. You can call the control room of the National Command Center for team service. Call 999.

Phone calls to the control room for assistance will be transferred to the nearest police station at the scene of the accident. Those calling for help from that police station should be given the Al Beirak team number. Authorities said team members arrived at the scene and began rescue operations as soon as the call arrived.

The volunteer team includes young people, doctors, diving instructors, and professionals from all walks of life. Officials from the Civil Defense and the Directorate General of Transport explain to volunteers about rescue operations and traffic rules.
