Emmett Shear is no longer the CEO of video streaming platform Twitch. However, he remains on board as an adviser.

The company’s new CEO is Dan Clancy, who has been active at Twitch since 2019. The move comes following Twitch came under heavy criticism last year for skimming revenue from major broadcasters. According to Archyde.com, some of them then lost up to seventy percent of their income. In September, a new policy was put in place, whereby streamers got seventy percent of their earnings up to $100,000. Then it was fifty percent.

Shear is one of the co-founders of Twitch, which started in 2006 as Justin.tv, before becoming Twitch in 2011. The platform is mainly popular with gamers who share their gaming adventures, but it is equally used by DJs (hobbyists) or others who want to entertain the world with their video stream.

In 2014, the company was acquired by Amazon for $970 million.
