Two people were placed under arrest warrant by the investigating judge for the shooting which took place last Sunday at Josaphat Park in Schaerbeek, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday. The circumstances of the shooting remain to be clarified.
The facts took place on Sunday around 2:50 p.m., when the Brussels-North police were called for shots fired in rue Louis Bertrand, near the park. On the spot, the police discovered two people wounded by bullets and another with a knife. The victims were taken to hospital. A fourth injured presented later that day to the hospital.
The victims have not yet been heard due to their state of health. Several witnesses to the facts were, however, interviewed.
The prosecution opened an investigation and requested the descent of the laboratory of the judicial police and a ballistics expert on the scene. This investigative work led to the arrest of two suspects, who were placed under arrest warrant by the examining magistrate and charged with attempted murder.
The Brussels public prosecutor’s office refuses, in the interest of the investigation, to comment on the statements made by the two suspects.
