Ukraine begins to vaccinate its athletes

Ukraine began vaccinating its athletes against Covid-19 on Thursday April 15 in the run-up to the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, scheduled for this summer. Some 30 athletes from the Ukrainian delegation received a first injection of the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine in front of the cameras at a clinic in Kiev. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Sports, 1,500 vaccines have been received for the country’s athletes but the vaccination will be voluntary. Japan does not require participants to be vaccinated but the International Olympic Committee encourages vaccination and has obtained doses of Chinese vaccine for athletes from countries without access.
