On November 26, the public hearing will be held for Civil Aeronautics to authorize the establishment of a new airline in the country. It is Ultra Air, which would operate regular trunk air transport for passengers, mail and cargo.
The request was made by his legal representative William Shaw, who was the founder of Viva Colombia and until a few months ago was the CEO of Interjet. Although no details of the company have been given, due to Shaw’s profile it could be a low cost, since it is the model in which he has worked the most.
According to the request, the airline’s main air base would be in Rionegro, Antioquia. Ultra Air requested to operate 29 domestic routes and 15 international routes to cities such as New York, Miami, Mexico City, Lima and Quito.
The entry of the airline would be a surprise in the market, since the pandemic has called into question the business model of air companies, but it would be an actor that diversifies competition.
