In the city of Zurich there were traffic delays on Friday evening due to an anti-WEF demonstration. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., several dozen people gathered at the Stadelhofen/Sechseläutenplatz train station. The demo participants then marched from Bellevue via Limmatquai to Central.

The Zurich city police temporarily closed the bridges to prevent the demo train from crossing the Limmat. At the Central, the demonstrators split up and one group tried to break through a police line, resulting in a brief use of rubber bullets and irritants. The demonstration then broke up.

2 arrests and confiscated pyro material

The Zurich City Police checked several people in advance, gave directions and seized demo material and pyrotechnic items. Two people were taken to a police station for further investigation. A woman fell as she tried to break through the police barrier and was injured. She had to be taken to a hospital by the Zurich Protection & Rescue Service.
