United Arab Emirates Can Send Rides to Mars Thanks to Women

The United Arab Emirates spacecraft is already in orbit Planet Mars. Behind this important mission, there are women scientists.

The commander of the UAE space mission is a female figure named Sarah Al Amiri. His position is not arbitrary, he is the Minister of State for the Advancement of Science of the Emirates as well as the Chair of the UAE Space Agency.

Hope’s mission to Mars costs USD 200 million or Rp 2.9 trillion. Now UAE scientists are starting to harvest the data Hope sends about the atmosphere and climate on Mars.

“This will be the first weather satellite on Mars which will give us a better understanding of the dynamics of the atmosphere and climate change in neighboring planets similar to ours, “Al Amiri told German Deutsche Welle, reported Monday (15/2/2021).

According to Al Amiri, the UAE team of scientists was dominated by women. But they are all not just people, but experts who have achievements and contributions to space missions.

“The science team from this mission consists of 80% women,” he said.

Sarah has worked for 12 years in the space center until finally becoming a minister. Of course the struggle is not easy, let alone the task of encouraging the advancement of the UAE state science and technology.

“This program has accelerated the pace of capability development for scientists as well as engineers,” he said.

Mission to Mars has a 50% chance of success. The UAE has a dream to start a settlement on Mars in 2117.

“But even if we cannot enter orbit, we have made history. This is the farthest point in the universe that the Arabs can reach throughout their history. Our goal is to give all Arabs hope that we are able to compete with the rest of the world. , “said the Vice President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
