Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, said the certification cannot be reversed.
Saturday, November 21, 2020 ((rezonodwes.com)) – The Republican National Committee and the Michigan Republican Party on Saturday petitioned the Michigan State Election Council for him ” ask to defer election certification for 14 days to allow for an audit of ballots in the state’s largest county« .
A Michigan official immediately said that “such an audit was not permitted by Michigan law« .
The letter came as Wayne County, which includes the predominantly black – Afro-African – city of Detroit, is at the center of President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 3 November in the states that were decisive in his loss to Democrat Joe Biden.
Two Republicans on the Wayne County Advisory Board tried to overturn their county results certification votes after Trump himself called them. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, said the certification cannot be reversed.
The state council, which includes two Democrats and two Republicans, is due to meet on Monday to certify the election results and will have up to 20 days to do so.
The letter urges a “full and transparent audit” in Wayne County, citing “digital anomalies and credible reports of procedural irregularities” made by a Republican candidate who lost his Senate seat.
